A rhythm game I wanna make is one where it's an rpg and it has enemy encounters. When you fight enemies it starts a sequence like DDR or FNF where you have to press the arrow keys in a rhythm according to arrows that appear on the screen. Whenever you do a meter charges up, and the better combo you have the faster it fills. If you mess up an arrow you take damage from the enemy.
To actually attack the enemies you have to go through the attack menu by navigating through items and stuff in between pressing arrows. How do you manage this? Well the aforementioned bar let's you freeze time, so once you get enough arrows right you can freeze time and spam some attacks.
Different enemy combos would produce different songs with different effects, such as electrified arrows, or faster BPM. The different status effects in game like burned would effect how you respond to the arrows, such as the blind effect which would make it so you can only see the arrows when they're about to need to be pressed (imagine if in DDR you only had like a second to react to each direction, it'd be like that)
There'd be various equipment and items in game that boost stats like your rhythm stat, which is the window that you can press a direction in in order for it to count as on time.
Etc etc etc
I should dump a bunch of my game ideas here. I'm particularly smitten with bullet hell and rhythm games. One of the simpler ideas I had was a danmaku that's like Kirby, where the player can copy enemies and then use their bullet patterns as their attack. For instance if one of the enemies shoots rings of bullets that move in circles then when you defeat the enemy you can download the attack and then you can shoot bullet rings. The one thing I got hung up over tho was how the download would work, maybe it'd be some sort of near miss graze or something idk.
