@arisudotexe i feel like there is a somewhat bigger amount of pedo hunters in queer circles so some might know
@Sploofy @arisudotexe depends on which group. It's a pretty open secret among gay men that we all like boys. The lesbians are the ones that I've found are either for or against it
@Toastyghost3434 @arisudotexe nah ive seen gay men that are hard antis also younger trans adults like 16-20 are hyper sensitive about it too tho i believe a lot of it comes from self loathing it doesnt change the fact that going to pride with pedo shit could still be recognized and could cause problems for you
@arisudotexe I do think this understates the risks a bit - bad shit always could happen, and that's important to consider. But - real life ain't fucking Twitter, and I think a lot of beings - especially those who spend a lot of time online - get the idea that obsessive hatred and scrutiny is far, far more of a thing offline than it actually is, especially at big events with a lot of beings, who in actuality are almost exclusively just minding their own business. Twitter et. al. isn't representative of the world - it's literally the distilled and hyper-aggravated very worst of it, and taking it as representative is a truly massive distortion of reality.
@violet_rose @arisudotexe obligatory disclaimer that you should always be careful and preferably be armed, but tbh I think most of the beings who DO recognize YAP pride symbols are going to be way too nervous to do anything irl. Beings are really bold online, but they tend to be cowards offline. The beings I'd be most scared of are older, conservative people rather than young adult queers. But conservatives already think queers are pedos anyways, so it's best to avoid them by default no matter what.
@Parapuppy @arisudotexe Both of us had pepper spray on us. The place was crawling with cops, so any type of lethal armament probably would have been more of a liability than a benefit given that context. A lot of establishments are also annoying about weapons, and knives are regulated more heavily than many would expect. So, those are frustrating issues.
I would definitely encourage anyone contemplating going around openly radqueer educate themselves on their legal and feasible options for self-defense in the applicable jurisdiction(s), and consider taking self-defense classes and/or working out as well. And of course, always keep in mind that if something does break out, cops and courts can be assumed hostile by default, so be mindful that your reaction won't make it easy to paint you as the aggressor or your response disproportionate.

@arisudotexe I wanna push back on this point. Many people take pictures and if a pictures happens to contain you with a symbol someone might realise and you could be doxxed. Also, pedo hunters are a thing
